Care Guide

We care for your jewelry!

In order for your jewelry to be everlasting, it’s important to give them the right care. Your jewelry should always be the last thing you put on, to prevent them getting in touch with soap, perfume, hairspray and other substances that can damage or tarnish the jewelry.

Always remove your jewelry before showering, or getting in contact with water for longer periods of time. Tarnishing or damage often happens when the jewelry is exposed to too much hand wash, soap, perfume, hairspray, saltwater etc.

How to care for your

Gold plated jewelry

All our gold plated jewelry is made with 24k gold, which gives them a beautiful red tone. It’s common that gold plated layers show signs of usage or small damages over time. We want your jewelry to last for a long time, this is why we happily help you with renewal of the gold plating, if needed.

A renewal of a gold plating costs 300-500 DKK. Contact sisse@sissedinesen.com for more info.

Store your gold plated jewelry in the jewelry box that they arrived in, or in an airtight container intended for jewelry. Humidity can cause jewelry to tarnish faster, so avoid storing your jewelry in the bathroom.

How to clean your gold plated jewelry

Mix lukewarm water with a mild soap, without perfume or color. Carefully dip your jewelry in the soap mixture, rinse with clean water and dry with a soft cloth. If the jewelry needs a deeper cleaning, you can use a soft toothbrush to clean, before using the cloth.

How to care for your

Silver jewelry

All our silver jewelry is made of 925 sterling silver. If your silver jewelry has started showing signs of oxidation, we recommend trying cleaning it with a soap mixture as described below.

Always contact your jeweler before using any chemical silver cleaning solution. Store your silver jewelry in the jewelry box that they arrived in, or in an airtight container intended for jewelry.

How to care for your

Pearls

Pearls are originally created in water and naturally absorb the liquid they get in contact with. The more pearls are worn, the more they come to life - wear them as often as possible to keep them alive.

Pearls absorb the oils and liquids from your skin and need moisture in order to maintain their natural glow. But because of the pearl’s ability to absorb, it’s also especially important that pearl jewelry isn't exposed to perfume, hairspray and other liquids which are damaging - always put your pearls on as the last thing. Avoid wearing your jewelry while you’re showering, swimming, exercising or sleeping.

If you notice your pearls have started fading and losing their glow, start wearing them more often, and the moisture from the body will give them back their shine.

Our pearl jewelry are strung on silk thread. Silk thread will stretch over time, leaving open gaps between the pearls. This is not a defect, but a sign of everyday use.

The best way to store pearls are flat, so the thread doesn't stretch. Store pearls in a jewelry box, so they are not exposed to direct sunlight as this will fade and damage the pearl.

How to clean your pearls

Dip a cotton cloth into pre-boiled, cold water, gently rinse each pearl with the cloth. Non perfumed soap can be added, if pearls are very dirty. Do not put the whole pearl string into water as this will stretch the string and the string might be difficult to dry.
